L\bopiteWe don't know about you but we're buzzing since the announcement of Sarah Jessica Parker's new comedy show for HBO in the Marie Claire office. Will Patricia Field be designing the outfits? Is Mr Big (aka Chris Noth) going to reappear as Sarah's soon-to-be-ex?
Much like Parker's alter-ego, Carrie Bradshaw, we're left 'wondering' how new show Divorce will fare after smash-hit Sex and the City. It's certainly left big Manolo-shaped shoes to fill. The fact that the show will air on the same network, HBO, has got everyone guessing.
Much like SATC, Sarah Jessica Parker will both a starring and producing and the series will be shot in New York. Yet from the sounds of things, Parker's new character is anything but the tutu wearing, Mr Big obsessed fashionista we came to know and love all those years ago.
So, what can we expect? Well, for starters, Sarah Jessica Parker's new lead role is called Frances and, as HBO puts it, the series itself is about a 'very, very long' divorce. As it turns out, making it on your own post-marriage, is harder than she originally thought, but she has some friends to help her along the way.
Stepping into Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda's shoes are co-stars Molly Shannon (a Saturday Night Live regular and star of Kath and Kim) and Talia Balsam (who plays long-suffering ex-wife to Roger Sterling in current HBO smash Mad Men). The former is described as 'neurotic' despite a 'successful husband, a beautiful house and no children', the latter, both widowed and divorced.
As for Parker's love-interest, sorry to disappoint, but Chris Noth isn't making a co-star appearance. We're still excited to hear that Sideways star Thomas Haden Church is stepping into the role of husband Robert, however.
'Divorce' will be filmed this year and aired 'some time' next year, so there's still plenty of time to get excited about Parker's return to the small screen. Us? Excited? You betcha...
